Chapter 12
Washington, D.C., Wednesday, June 19, 1980
Tears ran down T-Bone's cheeks as he stood chained and shackled, looking down into his mother's casket. He was flanked by two C.O.s inside Horton's Funeral Home on Kennedy Street, Northwest. Rage boiled inside him. He swore that somebody would pay.
"It's time to go, Wilson," one of the C.O.s said.
The Department of Corrections had allowed T-Bone to be escorted to his mother's wake. She'd died from a shotgun blast to the chest. Frank survived the hit, but was arrested and charged with the Howard Theater murders. He didn't even know he was wanted for the murders. G-Train was in jail, charged with murder as well. He had made a lot of enemies by killing The Black Widow. Frank's vest saved his life, he had to have reconstructive surgery on his leg and was still in the hospital.
In the back of the prison van on the way back down I-95, T-Bone shed no more tears. The only thing he would be shedding was blood. He was going to make everybody pay that had something to do with his mother's murder.
Back behind the Wall, T-Bone blew some dope and sat in his cell for hours. He didn't want to be bothered. The only thing that made him feel better was the mail he got from Cristal.
D.C. Jail, Monday, June 24, 1980
A lot of people picked sides in the beef between Frank and G-Train. The beef spilled over into the jail. An older dude loyal to The Black Widow tried to stab G-Train as soon as he got in the jail. G-Train ended up getting the best of the older dude, stabbing him seven times; G-Train was now in the hole. However, it was clear that the beef between Frank and G-Train would have long lasting effects
Frank was just getting out of the hospital and was being rolled into cell block NW-3. Tension was in the air as soon as the C.O. rolled him through the gate. Ronald and Bennie were right on the scene to help Frank to his cell. Bennie knew that Frank was Ronald's man, so he was down with whatever came with that. He and Ronald were real cool now. After Ronald introduced Frank and Bennie, Bennie left and let Ronald and Frank have some time alone. Sitting in the wheelchair with his leg propped up in a cast with metal pins in it,
Frank explained everything to Ronald, everything that concerned The Black Widow's murder. Frank blamed himself for Carole's murder. He knew that G-Train had come for him. Frank swore to go beyond all bounds to put G-Train in the dirt.
Ronald shook his head. "You ain't stay on the streets six months."
"I know." Frank sighed. "Shit got hectic."
"I see." Ronald had been hearing about the Howard Theater shootings on the news; they'd been big news for weeks. The shooting was the worst single shooting of the year. Frank was charged with two counts of murder and Baby Face was on the run for murder.
